Sometimes you go to work, spill coffee on your shirt, read your book instead of eating your lunch, and basically count down the seconds until you can blow that popsicle stand…and other times…you see the love of your life from across the room and fall head over heels. Or at least that’s sort of how it happened for Josh and Paige! On a beautiful day in September these two said I DO at the incredible Capitol Room in St. Peter, MN and Kate of Behind the Lens Photography was there to capture it all.
Paige breezed into my office on a bubble (she was Glinda in the school play after all) to tell me all about her dreams for her wedding day so that we could come up with the perfect designs for her ivory, pearls, rose gold, sparkles, NO FLOWERS vision. That’s right friends, no flowers for this wedding. Not a single one! Instead we brought the vintage glam with feathers! Feathers everywhere! But classy, Gatsby-esque feathers. And I set to work making sure her wedding would be perfect.
The morning of the wedding the girls gathered in the gorgeous bridal suite at The Capitol Room and giggled over mimosas while getting ready for the big day! The littlest of the girls also primped for her trip down the aisle as the FEATHER GIRL! Because of course if there are no flowers there would be no need for a flower girl, but Paige had to be sure her niece Charli was involved in the wedding so she became the Feather Girl!
The boys also took their time getting ready for the event in the grooms room at The Capitol Room and Josh’s boys were on hand to make sure their dad looked his very best.
Paige was a dream in her gown from Inspire Bridal Boutique, it was the perfect choice for the theme of her wedding and she could not have been more radiant!
The bridesmaids were dressed in my favorite shade of sparkle- rose gold! And of course Charli looked adorable in her Feather Girl dress!
I made the bouquets and boutonnieres for this wedding all from feathers. Paige’s bouquet was in a gold nosegay holder and adorned with gold and crystal broaches as well as a cherished heirloom rosary. The bridesmaids also carried feather bouquets with touches of rose gold crystals, and of course the Feather Girl had her own bouquet as well. The men all had boutonnieres made from feathers and pearls.
The ceremony was beautiful and simple, and basically everything that a wedding ceremony should be.
For the party…..I used rose gold sequined table runners, and blush runners with art deco inspired sequin embroidery to give the guest tables a pop of color, and rose gold sequin overlays for the head table. The centerpieces kept in style of the 1920’s theme with eifel tower vases filled with ivory feathers, gold feathers, and pearls, as well as vintage decanters with feathers and pearls as well.
Chef Craig’s served a delicious meal and the desserts from Lush Cakes were as tasty as they were beautiful!
