Jen + Trent Pure and Simple International Market Square Wedding | Minneapolis, MN

Real Weddings

Jen and I met when I was called in to coordinate her bff Kara’s early 2016 wedding. Needless to say we hit it off right away and when I got the call from her one day, I was more than excited to help her plan her very own wedding! Jen was a little reluctant to get down to planning her wedding, and at her fiancés urging, she finally agreed that it was time to tie the knot and told him she wouldn’t do it without a planner (did I tell you she is also a very smart human?). Trent agreed and away we went. Being a type A bride Jen had lots of questions and wanted to know all the details, which led to several emails and her coming up with a new nickname for me, I am now known as her Westie (wedding bestie- westie). A title I will carry proudly.

This couple wanted a PARTY! Surrounded by all the people that they love! Jen started telling me about their first official date and the band that was playing that night and it happened to have been a band I had heard of (much to her surprise) and used to go see quite often in college! Right away I started digging in to getting them hired for the big day! I knew that would be a huge deal for these two and that I had to do all that I could to make it happen and it ended up working out perfectly! The perfect vendor team was falling into place beautifully for the day that these two had waited for for so long!

Kelsey with Daly Proof Photography was there to capture every moment of this very special wedding. The girls got dolled up at Jen and Trent’s home. A perfect place to start the day.

For being the girl that never dreamed of a wedding dress, she sure did a great job choosing a knockout gown. The illusion lace back was stunning and it was truly perfect for her. She embraced her Scottish heritage and wrapped herself in her family’s Tartan. A special touch for this very special day.

Fun fact- Trent is a competitive fisherman, and I know….most fisherman are competitive but I’m talking like ACTUAL competitions! So we had to plan around fishing season, which really worked out because they got married on the most GORGEOUS fall day in Minneapolis! A little gray, a little windy, but look at those LEAVES!

Jen wanted to keep things simple so each bridesmaid carried a bouquet of one ivory garden rose surrounded by eucalyptus and Jen’s bouquet was three white garden roses surrounded by unique olive branches.

Jen and Trent said their vows in front of their family and close friends at International Market Square in Minneapolis. It was the perfect place for this once in a lifetime party. The soaring atrium provided a great space for these two to celebrate and for the band to knock people’s socks off.

The decor was kept simple, floating candles, eucalyptus, and just enough gold sequin sparkle. D’Amico catered the most delicious meal and because our bride isn’t a fan of sweets (other than Reese’s eggs) in lieu of a cake, a late night snack of French Fries with real Heinz ketchup was served. A fun touch that guests LOVED!

The best moment of the day was Jen walking into the space while the band, Good For Gary, was doing soundcheck and happened to be singing the song that Jen and Trent had picked for their first dance after a very long search, a rendition that was performed by Dave Grohl and Norah Jones at the Kennedy Center Honors of Maybe I’m Amazed by Paul McCartney, which the band learned just by watching the video on YouTube and it was EVERYTHING. I have goosebumps all over just thinking about it now. Jen was amazed that they pulled it off and I was so happy to help make this special moment happen. It was perfect.

Thank you Jen for trusting me with your very special day. I’m forever grateful to now have a lifelong Westie.
