On a warm (very warm) day in late June, Erin and Andy said I DO to a life of endless adventures together.
After getting engaged in Santorini, Greece (are you swooning yet…I’m totally swooning) Erin and Andy embarked on a new journey…planning their wedding! Their travel themed wedding was absolutely stunning and I was so thankful to be a part of helping their vision come to life. Everywhere you turned at this special wedding was a detail of a far of land that the couple had traveled too together.
The wedding ceremony was held in the Chankaska Creekside location, a perfect green space surrounded by lush trees and a babbling creek. Vintage suitcases marked the entrance to the aisle and I created some lush blush and white floral arrangements for the top of them to add some softness. The beautiful birch arbor that stands at Chankaska (that a former MMW Groom actually built) needed a little softness for this particular wedding so I added blush sheer fabric draping and greenery garlands.
Sheer fabric and twinkle lights were used to drape the tent at Chankaska for the reception and I also made a custom backdrop for with the saying “The Adventure Begins” and the couple’s names and used loose greens around the banner to create a gorgeous and unique backdrop for the head table.
To add a touch of blush to match the blush shantung satin overlays on the head table, I used blush shantung satin napkins in a flat three quarter fold draped over the table instead of a table runner and I think it gave the perfect elegant pop of color.
Each table had a destination name rather than a number which I loved. Each destination was a place the couple had traveled to together or where the bride and groom were from. Fresh florals adorned the table tops, and lots of candlelight of course. Included on each table were travel guides and a photo of the couple that they had taken in the destination as well as a photo frame from the location, a wonderful way to preserve trip memories. Also on the table was a camera so that guests could take pics for the couple of the festivities. So cute.
An adorable treat table featuring goodies from Minnesota faves Glam Doll Donuts and Bluebird Cakery awaited guests after they finished their dinner served by Absolute Catering (which I am SURE was delish). The travel theme can be seen here as well and you know that makes this wedding designer happy!
This wedding was a beautiful example of how to pull off a theme. Elegant details carried over into every part of the wedding day. For instance, many of you may be aware of my disdain for CANDY bars…but this one…WAS ADORABLE. The candies were all inspired by one of the places the couple had traveled, think prickly pear taffy for Sedona and maple candies for Canada. SO. DARN. CUTE.
Not Pictured: the AMAZING hot air balloon basket photobooth- I’ll post one on instagram tomorrow so find me here
Thank you Erin and Andy for letting me be a part of your very special day!
