Southern Minnesota Bridal Styled Shoot: Boho Prairie Romance

For Clients

On a windy day in September, some of Southern Minnesota’s most talented wedding vendors arrived at a little known oasis in Kasota, MN. We were all excited about gathering together, but I don’t think any of us were prepared for the beauty that was about to unfold.

You see, for this shoot, I really wanted to let each vendor shine. We had a loose idea of what we wanted and words like natural, boho, rich to describe the look we were going for, and a Pinterest board of course (I mean can you even plan a wedding or photoshoot without one?!). So, we would approach a vendor and say “Here’s a loose idea of what we had in mind but…..you do you boo boo”. What these vendors created was incredible, each taking bits and pieces of our ideas and creating a look that feels curated and pulled together, all photographed beautifully by the incredible Brittany Nash of Intuition Design Photography…the breathtaking images speak for themselves.

First of all, we have to shout out our amazing models (Michelle Taibi, and Nelson Ritthaler), these two were incredible and so professional, wind, cold, and roughly six million mosquitoes and look at them…stunning. We wanted a gown for our bride with a LOT of detail so we headed to Inspire Bridal Boutique in St. Peter- this lace gown they provided from Stella York (style 6245) was the perfect fit, I am obsessed with the open keyhole back, and sheer lace overlay which tops a soft ivory gown making the detail of the lace stand out even more! I am such a sucker for romantic lace detail, the front of this gown also did not disappoint! The front features a sweetheart neckline with an amazing surprise detail- an extra deep V that is sexy in that subtle way that brides…and grooms LOVE!

Our groom was looking dapper in a DKNY suit provided by J.Longs , we loved the little bit of pattern to the jacket, it also provided a ton of color, even if Navy is sometimes considered a neutral color, I love the richness that it can bring to a wedding party’s attire! It is quickly becoming one of my favorite shades in suits and tuxes, the amazing staff at J.Long’s sent about 7 tie options for this suit coat and it was so neat to see what they put together- I would love to see what they could do for you and your bridal party!

The jewelry for our shoot was provided by L.Shoff and was honestly the coolest jewelry I have ever seen. L.Shoff uses eco-friendly materials to make incredible one of a kind pieces. The items provided for the shoot featured a tear drop shaped fossilized wooly mammoth tusk (guys, I am IN LOVE with this ring, it just seems to glow), a band of engraved 14K gold paired with it to create an incredible bridal set, for the groom we got to feature an amazing signet ring and cuff links with actual DINOSAUR bone inlaid. I mean, does it get cooler than that? I don’t think so.

Pamela from Pamela Hernandez Beauty created a beautiful boho hair style for our bride, the texture in that hair was incredible on that Kasota Prairie fall evening. I love the mood that can be conveyed by incredible hair and make-up, do not underestimate the importance of these things on your wedding day. I’m going to let this stunning bridal look speak for itself here…….

Budding Creations provided incredible florals for this amazing shoot…ya’ll these girls…I tell you what…so stinkin’ talented. They literally stopped at a farmer’s market to get berries for the centerpiece arrangement for this shoot- hello boho! The florals were the perfect touch of softness and romance for this prairie shoot, and again, we gave very little guidance, we let Amber and Andrea of Budding Creations really go for it and create something beautiful and something that they had envisioned….

Meaningful Moments had the honor of being tasked with coordinating and creating a tablescape for this shoot. I wanted lots of texture and had pictured just a textured lace over a wooden table…well…what’s a wedding planner to do when all that she can picture is a wooden farmhouse table?! Recruit her carpentry school grad husband to build it of course! I love the custom table that we built and paired it with vintage wicker folding chairs- texture on texture on texture! We added some boho touches such as feather napkin rings, beaded linen napkins, vintage amber glass chargers and glasses, and amazing paper products from Ginger P.! Friends, do not underestimate the power of beautifully printed paper products, navy stock, gold foil, and a gorgeous envelope liner…IN LOOOVE! Bluebird Cakery is COMING TO MANKATO- soon, like, real soon, and friends…I am PUMPED. They are amazing humans, their work is incredible, and their cake is…SO SO GOOD! I am not joking when I say that I will be first in line for Bluebird Cakery Kato’s opening, we gave Kelsey an idea…and she gave us an edible masterpiece, have you ever seen such delicate details on a wedding cake?!

The heart of what I continue to speak on was fully present in this shoot. Community over competition, working together to change the local creative industry and bring beauty and better service to all of our clients. More images from this incredible shoot- and a full list of vendors below:
